Armageddon Nears! Oceanix City, perhaps?

Humanity is dragging through an era of crisis, falling subconscious and suffering from a black slumber. A select few believe kneeling and waiting for Armageddon to arrive is the most plausible 'solution' and yet even some wish to resort to planting a flag on Mars. However impossible the situation seems, a BIG leap to the future is what the doctor ordered, involving the former fiction enthusiasts: floating cities.

Okay, I admit that floating cities are not what they seem to be...

Significant weather events are sweeping away the Earth, and by 2050, 90% of major cities will be underwater. Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has revolutionised the world with a simple suggestion: perhaps floating cities that are resistant to all weather conditions? One platform of Oceanix City holds up to 300 citizens and interconnecting islands are possible: totalling a maximum of 10, 000 people. Farming integrates into social space, enabling residents to farm their own food, promoting self-sufficiency. While activity is bulging the ocean top, underwater life is thriving with coral rescue missions, rebooting the coral reef system to become more booming and vibrant than ever. Oceanix Cities seem viable and attractive, though sustainability must be achieved.

"Oceanix City just seems... tastier than a taco or a banana... Ooh ooh..."

Oceanix City will attract a horde rush but β€˜What makes it special?’ is the question. Sustainability and weather protection are two aspects but SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals - fund Noah's Ark. In 2015, 17 SDGs were established by the UN to create a security blanket around Earth. Oceanix City follows sustainability and protection from the climate crisis. No poverty, quality education, and life on the ground all support Oceanix City. Due to personal farms, zero hunger is ensured. Stars dance in the underwater community, backflippings, clam castanets band, and waves around, checking another SDG off the list, life under the sea. Ocean forces are converted into power by current generators and underwater wave energy converters, which are co-located with larger offshore wind turbines. Solar panels reside on rooftops. Affordable energy is thus no longer an issue. Oceanix City sounds utopic, though contradictory, a problem is unable to be disposed of immediately: the climate crisis.

"Please... this is just too good to be true..."

Oceanix City and the SDGs are just a precaution to an ongoing and inevitable war. The climate crisis has spun the green and blue basketball over an extended period causing droughts, floods, and tsunamis. Though, instead of viewing it as an issue, history repeats itself and Pompeii is back as disasters become a part of human lives and all mitigation effort goes down the drain. Be that as it may, hope is still evident. The golden hour is here, therefore conserving energy, renewing the environment, and lowering consumption and waste is one of the uncountable solutions capable of preventing the worst effects of the climate crisis. Heed caution, for lightning may strike any second.

The 17 SDGs

The dreaded circle is closing, thus Oceanix City is under supervision. An out-of-this-world fairy floater, it has the potential to house thousands while negating the climate crisis. SDGs are also alongside Oceanix City. The sun is setting on lives, beginning and the end, and there is almost no way to make it out unscathed. Therefore, let the final countdown begin, and may this world be blessed, as humanity may, perhaps, need it.
