Should we hold hope for the future?

Or has time run out?
Should we hold hope for the future?

The world has seen uncountable tragedies, the uncanny climate crisis. The future seems grim and hopeless and instead of looking forward to a utopia, the world seems to dissolve into dust. Therefore, for many, raising up the white flag becomes the only plausible option. But we can’t just give up yet! No. We can rebel against the dark future with something bright, something rich in colour: hope.

It is a dire and severe situation for the Earth. Weather patterns are changing and the seas are rising, leading to a mass exodus of environmental refugees and swallowed landmarks. Soon, the world will be engulfed in endless oceans, marking the end of most species such as humans including you. Climate crisis is, indeed, an oppressive problem. Be that as it may, all hope is not lost.

In all, hope is an important factor that many of us wouldn't make it without. Nevertheless, the question whether hope is simply enough to face the tyrannical climate crisis remains. Hope develops determination and motivation. This trio, along with many others, is vital to life as, if you reject them, your will to try and succeed diminishes. Collaborating with hope, we can do more powerful things than anything else, like sharper responses to the climate crisis similar to what the world is doing now. Every year, several gigatons of emissions are omitted while the reality of the climate crisis is now becoming an essential aspect of an average human’s brain. Hope is doubtlessly essential but, has time already run out?

Undoubtedly, humanity is ever so closer to solving the issue every second as we rush to save the world from extinction. Be that as it may, a piercing thought strikes humanity: is it too late to save Earth? In a 2018 report, there was an estimated 12 years until the worst of the climate crisis. Other sources merely stated there was 18 months left while the remaining concluded there is not much time until the apocalypse begins. By 2030, scientists estimate most countries will experience extremely hot weather which only occurs once in a century. So, has time run out? No. With hope and extreme dedication, there is a chance to avoid catastrophic events.

As the evil climate crisis closes into the grip of our beloved blue marble, we cling onto hope and action. The climate crisis is indeed a devastating event but we can subdue this problem as the future is still worth waiting for. Marching with hope, we can mitigate the climate crisis and change the world.
